Safe… after quite the faff at our end… due to some unavoidable cancellations and some quite admirable rearrangement skills on my behalf, the line up for this weeks MIXTAPE is finally sussed.
First up we have the carnival esque folk band MWSOG, a piano/cello outfit…..Vocal lines undoubtedly influenced by the like of Anthony and the Jonhnsons over the top of complex percussion and string arrangements these guys are truly an interesting proposition.
Sam Goudie AKA Elephant and Soldier takes the stage next, think David Gray meets Bon Iver. Beautifully constructed songs over uplifting and thought provoking lyrics…. if you wanna pull your date, take her to see this guy….. absolute star in the making.
Finishing up the acoustic stage we have Anthony “ISH” Wickham. This acoustic guitar playing human beatbox is a born entertainer… with a fun and lively mix of funk/soul covers mixed in with a selection of his own impressive tunes, you’re guaranteed to walk away from one of his gigs smiling. Ridiculously talented and often drunk Ish will rock your socks off!!
