Once upon a time, you had to wear shoes to get into nightclubs.
You didn’t really have a good time, did you?
It’s not quite like that anymore. When we put nights together, we like to boil it down to a couple of things. Music and people.
The music is the band, the DJ, the singer, the producer, the sound system, the sudden unexpected change in tempo.
The people are the the atmosphere, the chatter, the movement.
So when we put a night together, we’re not concerned if certain styles or genres are going to ‘gel’. We know it’ll work if it’s good. That’s why we want to take the same attitutude as some of the musical styles we’re highlighting. Chuck it all in, add your own ideas and see what comes out the other end. A mish-mash of ideas is how genres of music are created: Rock & Roll; Hip-Hop; Disco; House; Funk; Drum & Bass; Baile Funk; it’s how UK Funky evolved, it’s when people from the USA start to make Bollywood records, and it’s when producers in India create their own brand of dubstep. It’s like George’s Marvellous Medicine, except with fewer giant chickens.
