AMAZING Afrobeat Gig!! … (it’s in Bristol but still proper good)

We at Ba Ba Boom! love our afrobeat, which is why we’re bringing 8 piece Afrobeat killers Mankala to the CAI on Friday 12th March. But we’ll blog about that another day. (Check the facebook here if you cant wait for your info: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/event.php?eid=294882807668 )

Today we’re thumped with excitement about a gig this month in Bristol’s Colston Hall. Proper Afrobeat legends Orchestre Poly-Rhythmo de Cotonou from Benin are performing as part of the Afro Soul Rebels tour. Sure, there are other acts playing on the bill, but we are just stuck on the Orchestre Poly-Rhythmo, as we call them. £17.50 ticket price and a trip across the water might put some off, but our advice is just go. Legends of 1970s afro funk, and regular burners of Cardiff dancefloors whenever I get to DJ. Two videos below as evidence, first a proper afro-funk hot boiler with vintage 1970s footage, second chilled funk with cheeky puppets. Whatever your preference, check the videos and decide the trip is worth it…
