In our high pressure world of instant gratification no one has time to wait for entertainment. You want it now and if you don’t get it you just change the channel or download something you do want.
Dirtbox is the live comedy show for the Attention Deficit Disorder generation.
Combining stand up, sketches, improv and film all served up in small chunks of no more than 5 minutes. It’s like flicking through the channels of live TV and downloading joy directly into your brain.
Playing the part of the remote control is Dan Mitchell (featured in pic), a comedian with more energy than a 6 year old child who has just drunk his own bodyweight in Sunny D. He loves drawing pictures(mainly of willies, boobs and monkeys with hats) and he once owned an owl. He is a regular on Radio Wales and is available on DVD in his pants. *Fact: he is the inventor of the Monkey Helmet.
The line up is in constant flux with people coming from far and wide to entertain.
Some of the faces you may or may not see are :
Becky Brynolf is a writer and comedy performer who tries her ruddy hardest never to miss a Dirtbox. Likes: pies, books, rude noises. Dislikes: clubs, sprouts, Warrington.
Becky was the first person to wear a monkey helmet.
Holly Ireland is an American comedienne who actually gets irony and sarcasm right. She is the inventor of the Fuddy Buddy, a device that aids women in the battle of the sexes, allowing them to pee standing up.
Gareth Brand is an up and coming comedian who says of himself “I quite like crumpets. I will tend to eat them a lot then get sick of them. After I’ve given them a rest for a while, I’ll go back to them. It’s the crumpet cycle.” As well as stand up he is the creator of Roy’s Day a live animation of pure filth.
Mike Bubbins is an Elvis loving man mountain from Barry who used to teach PE. None of that has stopped him being one of the funniest men in Wales.
We also feature short films from various talented individuals, including animation from Kate Derrick:
Sketches from Zipline creatives, the brains behind Rhod Gilberts recent TV show
and this month we feature shorts from award winning Guksack, a Bristol based bunch of funny people.
