I love this city, there’s literally no place like it at and at time’s I even quite like walking down St Mary Street on a Saturday night and marvelling at the madness. Of course this is rather a rare occurrence and generally I try and stay well away, that isn’t what I want from a Saturday night. I want good people, good music, lots of dancing and generally something a little different. However it gets quite tricky finding all of these things on a Saturday night in Cardiff, so the CAI family knocked heads and tried to figure out what the best Saturday night out we could go to might be, then we put it together. So from this weekend we have some of our very favourite bands that we have mainly picked out from our many festival excursions. They are all masters in the art of creating good vibes and I’m sure between everyone we can manage to brew up a little bit of festival magic. Of course with such a mission in mind our first stop was Glastonbury itself. SOULJUICE are a band from the town, whose members I often bump into at the festival performing in various guises. When I first heard their Jesse Love Band incarnation though I was blown away at the singer’s voice, a mix of Stevie Wonder and Jamiroqui that could lift anybody’s spirits. Now the band have changed their name and have switched up a few notches in tempo so expect the place to be liver than ever.
We also have another special guest in the shape of Mancunian Disco Poppers MAY68, whom The Fly called “More infectious than Swine Flu” and we would have to agree, one of those bands that the NME love but still manage to carry off unpretentious fun music aimed primarily at getting you all off your asses. Yup with both these guys and our DJs playing the best in Funk, Swing, Gypsy, Ska and World party music. Saturdays look like they’ll be kicking off with the type of big bang that creates new worlds.
