The Disablists: A Cut Above The Rest

Whenever we link up with the Starving Artists for our Fridays, it proves that Hip-hop is very much alive and well in the city. This time they’ve brought in the incredible four-time UK DMC Team winners and World DMC Team runners-up The Disablists. These guys are no strangers to the limelight, competing against the likes of French turntable crew C2C, collaborating with UK Hip Hop legends Foreign Beggars, and even performing on both Blue Peter and the Paul O’Grady show.

We are happy to have them grace the turntables at Cardiff Arts, and they will undoubtedly leave the crowd mesmerised by their animated performance and incredible dexterity. This is a must for all DJs, turntablists and general Hip Hop heads, however don’t be put off if all you want to do is come out and dance your ass off, these fellas are as musically minded as they are technically brilliant and have a full on party rocking set in store for us. Not since the Scratch Perverts has a DJ crew from the UK been able to get a crowd moving so well.

Check this funked up mix from crew member Asian Hawk:

Supporting we have Oort Kuiper, who is quickly being recognised as one of the most intellectual and articulate MCs of the moment, penning rhymes about some technical topics such as genetics and astrobiology. He will be backed by his crew Connections, consisting of Planit Marz, Y.S. Dizzle, Louie Green, Brigzy & DJ Risk1. With huge stage presence and huge energy, this crew always brings something to the stage.

Keeping things rolling we have crate diggin’ vinyl junkie DJ Veto. Veto has to be one of the most researched DJs in Cardiff and keeps the crowd rocking whether its old school boom bap, rare funk and soul or some mad scratching over new school beats.
