Temperatures Soaring
The intense cycling duel that is ‘Rollapaluza’, is back in the bosom of CAI for the second time..Temperatures soared and pulses raced as battling teams and individuals fought tooth and tooth back in June.Speed merchants, couriers and ambitious amateurs worked every sinew and muscle to beat the clock on that hot evening. Will things get a little cooler in these winter climes?come see..n.b Leisurely cycling need not apply!
What is Roller Racing?
Each bike is wired up to a giant clock showing a simulated distance, usually 500 metres. Because each rider has his or her own clock hand, the ensuing head-to-head sprint is easy to watch. You can see exactly who is ahead as the brightly coloured clock hands chase each other round the dial. But nothing can prepare you for the real thing, the beery atmosphere of a closely packed crowd stoked up to fever pitch by rival factions, and set alight by faces contorted by the pain of a sprint duel nearing its end.
Roller racing knock out competition with prizes for best woman, best man, best team in company, club, charity, cycle shop categories. Unlimited team membership, best three riders to score. (Actually that’s not guaranteed)
Music and beer (including PBR if the boat docks in time) throughout evening at friendly and well stocked CAI venue.

Head to head
Bike parking easy. Note to roadies – pedals are retro rat traps with straps so leave your clip ins at home. Gearing about 85″ so high, silky cadence crucial – events run over virtual 500 metres. Chris Hoy can do ~19 seconds but he’s not the quickest.
