Winter Watusi All-dayer

BANDS ALL DAY (2pm+) | ECO-AREA ALL AFTERNOON | DJs & LIVE MUSIC TIL 4am

And still free before 9, £2 til 11, £4 after…

The Watusi Festival launched in 2010 in a field by the beach just 20 minutes from Cardiff. Three music stages, an eco area, kids zone, and sweet home-cooking, it brought a personal touch to the end of the summer festival season for the Cardiff faithful. That little tented village had character, and the organisers (including us) went home happy back to our more routine activities. Such a great occasion it was, that we thought waiting until the end of the summer 2011 was too long to do it all again, so we’ve pulled some strings, made some promises, and on Saturday Feb 26th we land the Winter Watusi in the warm, sturdy, building that is the Cardiff Arts Institute for a one-day winter revival. It’s certainly much easier hosting a festival in a building – no negotiating with the council or digging compost toilets – but it still provides a great opportunity to put together a depth of great bands and eco-education running from the afternoon, to the evening, and into the night. February’s too cold to camp, so we’ll leave the tent pegs, harris fencing, and hi-vis jackets for Watusi 2011 in the summer, and instead be assured that we still have that Watusi feeling, with stacks of live music and good times, but safe in the knowledge we’ll be sleeping in our beds not our sleeping bags.
