“Gangsta got an iron-lung!” Cee Lo Green
Last time Joe Driscoll played at Cardiff Arts Institute the crowd wouldn’t let him get off stage for about 2 hours, no doubt he could have carried on for even longer. Our favourite one man band is back with his incredible blend of Hip-hop, Reggae, Folk and Funk created by looping up his beatbox and the various instruments he plays, then rapping and singing over the top, definitely a most enjoyable sight (and sound) to behold.
“A Sonic wonderkid who creates his own 21st Century ‘folk’ live onstage, sample by sample, beat by beat… one to watch” Time Out
“Probably the most energetic performer on the planet. Joe Driscoll is as real as it gets.” Revolving Door
Since touching down in the UK from his native New York to became a part of the original One Taste family (alongside the likes of Jamie Woon, Little Dragon, Newton Faulkner and Portico Quartet), Joe has become a firm favourite at festivals such as Glastonbury, Bestival and Big Chill, leading him to collaborate with acts such as Arrested Development, Rodney P & Skitz, Spragga Benz and Dub FX. His first album ‘Origin Myths’ gained a varied audience, even down to being DJ Magazine’s ‘album of the fortnight’ and now he’s back with a great new album ‘Mixtape Champ’. A truly great performer with a heart warming selection of tracks, definitely should not be missed.
“All in all Joe Driscoll is a musical force. Keep your eye on him.” Music Outlook
